This is similar to our common "morozhicha koottan" , but in a very different style with varied ingredients. I tasted this for this years onam celebration here and managed to learn the recipe from the person who prepared it.
INGREDIENTS
thick curd - 1 cup
grated coconut - 1/2 cup
green chilly - 3-4
tomato - 1/2
small onion - 5-6
garlic - 1 pod minced
ginger - 1 " piece
turmeric powder - a pinch
cumin seeds - 1/2 a table spoon
salt - as required
for tempering
mustard seeds
red chilly
curry leaves
METHOD
1. grind together the grated coconut, green chillies,cumin seeds, 2 small onions, ginger and turmeric powder.
2. mix this ground paste with the curd and beat it well using a beater/ spoon.
3. heat oil in a pan and sauté the remaining small onions and tomato until oil starts separating.
4. now add the curd-coconut mixture into the pan and heat it. switch off the stove before it starts to boil and then add required salt.
5. season it with red chilly, curry leaves and mustard.
